The Senior Center depends on volunteer members to help with many of our activities and fund raisers.  We are a non-profit, tax exempt corporation and must keep our operating costs quite low in order to provide the wonderful variety of activities and events that we all enjoy.

____ Fund Raising:  soliciting businesses/individuals to donate money or to give items for some of the following fund raisers:

 

____ Dances: 5 held during a year's time - New Year's Eve, mid Jan no name, Valentine, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween Party .. * note: Our Dances are parties with music - you are welcome to buy a ticket to listen to the music-enjoying other's company.  ** If you are a volunteer for that dance & sit at the volunteer table when not busy.. you will NOT need to pay for a ticket.

 

            Need people for: Set up/take down/clean up, kitchen help, ie: the afternoon of the dance  -  cutting cakes into individual serving sizes, placing food onto serving trays, placement of drink and food tables setting (glasses, large container & scoop for ice, napkins/utensils for serving/eating, plates  before/after/during - keeping area clean, bringing fresh food/ice to serving tables, as needed -decorating, sell raffle & other tickets.  (when responsibilities of the Lyndell Bldg. employees have other duties during the times needed to have tables/chairs set up prior to or after a dance, we need able bodies to set up or take down those tables/chairs - for this, & other events,  you can pop in/out at the times needed. )

 

______ Fall Fling/Holiday Bazaar:  (late Oct or early Nov) Set up/take down, work Tom Bolo table, raffles & 50/50


____ Office/clerical help:  Make phone calls to get the volunteers needed for dances, triathlons & other events , (can be done from your home or at center),  answer phones when employee is away from desk or aid in signing new members & giving tour of our buildings to those interested. Other items as needed.

 

______ Community Service: Christmas Tree Lighting for City of PCB, Fourth of July, occasional EXPO, man tables for part or whole event, giving information to public about us.

 


____ Triathlon:  2 held per yr. Wed/Thurs/Fri prior to Mother's day.  Iron Man in November 4 days.    Sign up for time slots to aid the athletes to purchase tickets for special events, register participants, hand out free packets.  (we receive a donation for the Center when enough volunteers from the Center help)

 


____ Pot Luck (Third Wed of Sept - April):  Help Kathleen Cook set up serving area, sell 50/50 tickets, clean up - wipe tables/trash to bins/wash/put away/lite sweep of floor, re set  tables/chairs to standard setting(Remember to bring a favorite dish to share at the lunch.. can be bought or homemade & encourage others to do the same)
