ART AT THE OATFIELD:

2012 WORKSHOPS

 Painting Partners

Painting Partners was founded by Jonita Haynes in 2002 with just a handful of members.  The purpose of the organization was to provide a place to paint and share ideas as well as an opportunity for members to improve through critiquing each other’s work.  Presently   there are usually ten year-long participants and nearly thirty in the winter months.  The group meets on Monday, 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.  Paintings are exhibited on the walls of the Oatfield Building.

About the Artists

Jerry Baum has been a professional artist for over fifty years and has won national and regional award. As a master class watercolor instructor, he has given lectures and demonstrations all over the world. His work is widely exhibited. Jerry has contributed several paintings to the Senior Center.

Heather Parker is an award winning artist living and working in Panama City. Her art, acrylic on canvas and wood, can be seen at City Arts Cooperative in downtown Panama City where she is Creative Director. Heather instructs acrylic workshops throughout the year at various locations in Bay and Gulf counties. She is the resident artist for Chautauqua Learn and Serve and leads their Community Outreach programs. Visit her website for more information. (www.painterparker.com)

Adriana Saba has a Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. She is a Fellow with the Ottawa Watercolor Society and won Best of Show in 2009 at the Canadian Art Gallery. She spent twenty years in graphic design and has been instructing in art for twelve years at two senior centers.

Don Taylor is a signature member of ten major watercolor societies, including the Southern Watercolor Society of which he served as president for three years. He has won several national awards. Don has been teaching watercolor classes in his studio for several years. Visit his web site (dontaylorart.com) to view his gallery and for more biographical information.

Tim Thomas is a local prize-winning author and illustrator of children’s books. ENCORE students have been fortunate to have instruction from Tim in drawing, cartooning and watercolor. His DIDYANO?, a book about animal families, names, fun facts and trivia, won a national book award. The illustrations are delightful.

Margrete Vause paints traditional watercolors of the coastal region. Her work is highly collected and continues to sell well. Her recent exhibit at the Gallery of Art was very successful. Margrete teaches a weekly class at St. Thomas by the Sea Episcopal Church. She has conducted workshops at the Senior Center for the past three years.
